Some of the things I'll need...

Friday, April 11, 2008

I was talking aboug saving $1,000 before I left to buy some of the things that I'll need before I go. Well, I've made a list, and added it up for you! (Well, really for me, but that's okay).

Toshiba Spare Battery for my Laptop.................... $189
Toshiba Global Adaptor (This is awesome!).......... $89
Pocket Camera........................................................... $250
Spare Battery for current Camera.......................... $70
Luggage....................................................................... $300
Electrical Converters................................................. $100

And the grand total? $998! Just shy of my $1,000 goal.

This is cutting it close, since it doesn't cover shipping or anything new I find, but the goal is to save $1,000 by June15th. Sounds rough, but I think I'll be okay. I'll be setting up a new progress bar on the side (because I know how much you love them!), but I don't think I'll be setting up a new ING Fund. 3 is confusing enough! I think I'll simply keep the money in my "Savings" goal and keep track of what I've got in there.

****EDIT****

I knew that I was forgetting something! Darn.... I also want to buy an external hard-drive. I have a lot of movies (that I own... no pirating for me!) that I'll be putting on there, as well as photos and music. I'll probably be looking at a 250Gb one, which will run me in the area of $80 to $150.

That'll bring my total up over $1,000, so I'll bump the sidebars up as well. Oh well. This one fund won't be one specific goal, but more of a back-of-the-mind saving fund.

We're probably going to bring a laptop to Paris and should look into a global adaptor also.

You got a lot of stuff for that amount of $$ though :-)

Yeah, I'd never heard of a global adaptor before visiting the Toshiba site - I'm very excited about it, since I was worried about what foreign electricity would do to my lap top.

Hey. Stumbled upon your blog in my searching and think you have a great goal!!! I also think we lie in the same city in Alberta as I too experienced Snow Day 2008. Yesterday was amazing weather-wise. I love that kind of snow.
Anyway look forward to reading about your journey to London.

You do know that 90% of your electronics will not need a power converter? If you read the little labels most will say they can take up to 240-250 Volts. I would suggest returning the power adaptor if your electronics have this on them.

Also an all in wan plug converter can cost less than 20 bucks. http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F8E449-Universal-Travel-Adapter/dp/B00008O393

Hey that savings is enough for a hard drive!
